BIOGRAPHY

This portion of our site is devoted to all things "Rawbert". I love my family, my wife, my job and my mission. All the rest is just icing on the cake. I have devoted my life to bringing the world a raised consciousness about the value of pure foods and to accomplish this within the boundaries of family priorities, teamwork and the principles of sound business practices. Wow, many days and nights pass where I think I have bitten off more than I can chew, but still... there's not a day that goes by where I can't look back and reflect at what has transpired and not take some value from providing people with healthy pure food served with the hard work and personal caring from my wonderful staff.

Thank you for visiting my site . But most importantly, thank you, for your efforts and some small way, of carrying forward the mission of raw livin'.

RAWBERT'S HISTORY

Robert Reid, is a long time advocate, practitioner, author, teacher, chef and purveyor of a raw food and natural food diet lifestyle.

Robert's journey began in 1994, when he was impassioned by the desire to save the life of his 33-year-old sister-in-law Elizabeth to terminal cancer (she lived 1 1/2 years longer than 2 month diagnosis). Robert set off with his brother Stephen, on a path to find the secrets to healing and wellness. The loss of his sister gave his life a purpose and the information they discovered changed his life from a meat and potatoes tax accountant to a vegetarian health educator and finally to a restaurateur and influential raw food voice.

Robert's journey was not too dissimilar to many who generally experience some sort of major life crisis, which fueled his drive to look for better answers. His path forward saw him later certified as a phlebotomist with a specialty in live blood analysis. Here he personally discovered and confirmed the scientific basis for a natural lifestyle. Live blood viewed under a microscope at 10,000X magnification was truly an eye opening experience and provided much of the corroborating evidence he personally required.

His research and efforts in this field led him to further conclusions on the value of raw, natural foods and significantly shaped his personal transformation to his current diet. Fortunately, as well, Robert met and sometimes worked alongside some of the leading names in the raw food community and further broadened his knowledge base. During this time, Robert earned many certifications in areas of holistic healing and journeyed to various parts of the country, particularly the West Coast to study with these leading health gurus and authors.

Prior to founding Organic Garden Café, Robert ventured out to serve in more of a teaching capacity. He conducted recipe classes, held various seminars and produced prolific writings on the Restorative Power of Natural Foods and Holistic Healing. Eyeing enough of a national shift towards healthy living and eating options, Robert decided to open his restaurant and to apply his culinary gifts to the purpose of proving to people that healthy food can not only provide great physical benefits but also be both aesthetically appealing and extremely delicious.

Organic Garden Café opened to the public on December 22nd, 1999, the winter solstice.

It is a corporation of which Robert is the principal shareholder and manager. He always feels the sincerest obligation to site the contributions and support of his life-long friend, James Pistorio of Lake Tahoe, NV (formerly a MA resident) for his contributions in establishing and continuing this venture. He is also thankful to raw foods advocate, Robert Yarosh, who also assisted in the initial design of the restaurant.

With the development of this Internet site, Robert continues to move forward in his personal campaign to reach more people and bring greater health to a wider audience. The wave starts with a ripple.
