VOLUNTEERS WANTED

Our Goal:
1 volunteer for every shift of the week. Especially Tues./Fri./Sat./Sun.Mornings. Learn new skills and become inspired as you h elp Organic Garden with normal Café prep, utility functions and special events.
The Commitment:
Volunteers should commit to helping a minimum of 5 times over a period of 2 months, twice within the first 2 weeks.
Daytime help should come for 3 or more hours as early as 8 am.
Evening help should be available for 2 hours or more crossing over the time zone of 6 to 8pm if possible when the rush might occur.
The Tasks:
Daytime help that is early is likely to be utilized in many different capacities: general vegetable prep, assist chef (ex. rolling out crackers, granola, making burgers), miscellaneous cleaning tasks, occasionally computer data entry (ex. e-mail addresses). Simple jobs at first that require as little explanation as possible so it is in fact useful to have you instead of just doing it ourselves.
Daytime help at noon AND Nighttime help maybe used as stated above or are likely to be helping with service of customer i.e. bus food to/from dining room or make smoothies and soups, cut and garnish slice of pie, etc.
On many shifts volunteers will shadow founder Robert Reid on many miscellaneous tasks as an extra pair of hands.
The Reward:
Slowly but surely volunteers will be educated on unique and useful kitchen and rawfood preparation skills.
Volunteers receive a free entree and smoothie each shift and also a free recipe class on completion of 5 visits.
Volunteers have the satisfaction of helping a really good cause benefiting you, OG Cafe, the community, organic farmers, and dearest Mother Earth. Organic Garden has losses from it's first 4 years of operation keeping the mission alive (quite common for restaurants), and even though we will likely turn a profit on' the books' this year, cashflow is tight and every bit of help helps!
Volunteer because you feel excited to be part of our team and our mission and to learn something new. The quality of our cuisine, service and systems have progressed to a level of consistent excellence making it an enjoyable place to be.

Looking for friendly, reliable, healthy, drug-free individuals people who are passionate about our food and mission to promote healthful and environmentally conscious living.
PERMANENT FULL & PART-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
ARE YOU A TEAM PLAYER?
These are some of the team players we are looking for:
Prep Artist/Line (Un)Cook - Prepare our appetizers, wraps and dishes with great focus on artistic presentation. Learn to make all of our basic sauces.
Counter/Front Help - Handle take-out, juice bar, teas, desserts, soups, etc. May wait on customers or hostess.
Waitress - Should have a basic understanding of nutrition, benefits of organic raw foods, and the ingredients and preparation of our cuisine. Some knowledge/experience in Prep Artist and Counter position is pre-requisite . It takes a little orientation time to be ready to be an Ambassador for our concept.
Assistant Chef - Dessert & Specialties Prep - Cookies, pies, "pizza crusts", sun crackers, veggie burgers and falafel. Also learn to make all of our sauces and specials. Prep Artist position and/or training is a pre-requisite. |
